Furniture Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides donated furniture to people in need throughout Greater Portland.
With ongoing support from the community, we are able to fulfill our mission of Creating Homes.
In 2019, Furniture Friends served over 550 households in need by providing the furniture that helped them create new homes for themselves.
In so doing, we also supported them in beginning the process of rebuilding their lives.
Furniture Friends partners with over 120 local social service providers, hospitals, faith-based organizations, municipalities, and schools to identify people in need who lack the financial resources to purchase furniture on their own.
If a mattress and box spring pick up is scheduled, the donated items must be placed on the porch of the home, in the garage, or outside on the day of the scheduled pickup.
We pick up furniture from the following cities/towns only; if your city or town is not listed you will need to schedule a drop off appointment.
Please allow 1-2 weeks for a pick up appointment to be scheduled.
Before submitting the donation form, please review our list of acceptable and unacceptable items to ensure that we can accept the items you want to donate.

Volunteers are crucial in helping us live out our mission of Creating Homes.
Rebuilding Lives.
We rely on many volunteers to pick up furniture donations and deliver furniture to our clients.
Time and again, we hear from our volunteers that they got far more out of their volunteer experience than they gave.
It seems inconceivable that children are sleeping on the floor in our community, but they are right here in our midst!
It is hard to believe that people suffering from physical or mental disabilities or from chronic illnesses have no place to sit down to try to cope, but it is happening!
