Johnston Tombigbee Furniture Manufacturing Company was founded in 1932 by Mr. Russell B. Johnston to manufacture decorative bedroom chests and armoires.
He later added a full line of all-wood bedroom to complement his competitively priced products for which there was an ever-growing demand.
In addition to the manufacturing business, he also operated a highly successful retail furniture store and several thousand acres of timber land.
Mr. Johnston ran the company until his death in 1958, at which time the business was passed on to his four young grandsons - one of whom owns the business today.
