Services
From creating childhood birdhouse and pinewood derby projects in his father's workshop, to building his first piece of solid wood furniture in his teens, Denali Woodworks owner Jason Skagen has loved working with wood throughout his entire life.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with an engineering degree, Jason worked in food manufacturing for 14 years.
During his spare time, he built bedroom sets, desks, hope chests, and other custom furniture for family and friends.
Ultimately, demand for his business was great enough that he decided to open Denali Woodworks, a Minnesota based company serving the Minneapolis, Rochester, and St. Paul areas, with customers reaching into Wisconsin and Iowa.

When it comes to how our furniture is made and the materials we use, we will not compromise.
All of our furniture, from bedroom sets to dining tables, is handmade from solid wood that is either reclaimed or sourced from mills that responsibly harvest the trees.
They take the time to saw and dry the lumber correctly to minimize defects.
This allows us to create pieces that celebrate the beauty of the wood, including live edged, book matched tables and classic Craftsman office desks.
We use local blacksmiths to custom create quality, metal accents for our furniture, in a long lasting, durable finish.

Each wood species has its own characteristics, so please take a moment to learn about the woods used by Denali Woodworks.
Characteristics: Cherry is available in flat sawn, curly, and rarely quarter sawn.
Cherry wood is beautiful in flat sawn wood, but curly boards can add a level of accent to any piece.
This curl can vary from subtle, all the way to dramatic and can be a great way to accent a door, drawer front, or table top.
Cherry sapwood, the wood at the outer edge of a log, is much lighter in appearance than the center heartwood.
