Faifer
Faifer & Company, Inc. is a family owned business, established in 1981. We are located in Floresville, Texas the heart of Mesquite country just 25 miles south of San Antonio. The lumber used in our Mesquite Products are reclaimed logs from Texas Ranchlands in Wilson, Atascosa, Karnes, Bexar and Guadalupe Counties. Mesquite is a remarkable wood known for its Beauty, Strength and Tenacity.

This native wood has survived on the rugged Texas landscape since before the Spanish Conquistadors set foot on North America. The color and grain characteristics are enhanced with defects, ingrown bark & mineral streaks. Mesquite will darken as it ages. The reddish-brown color revealed when a finish is applied gives and exceptionally distinctive appearance to wood cut parallel to the grain.

The End Grain cut has its own beautiful personality of rich brown patterns. All our mesquite flooring is 1/2 thick due to the exceptional hardness and stability; it will make an exceptional floor with almost no tendency to warp for commercial and residential applications.
Services
Mesquite flooring is extremely stable; and is one of the densest materials for hardwood flooring.
We acquire our Mesquite wood from Wilson, Karnes, Bexar, Guadalupe, and Atascosa Counties.
We then kiln dry our flooring down to 6 - 12% moisture to bring the boards to a stable moisture content, then eliminate sapwood in the defect and boxing process.
This thorough process allows us to provide our customers with the best Mesquite tongue and groove and end grain flooring on the market.
Architects, Contractors and homeowners throughout the world have recognized our Mesquite Flooring for its beauty, strength and stability.
Mesquite woods are naturally aged and display rich character and color not found in other hardwoods.

The Janka (or side) hardness test measures the force required to embed a.444 - inch steel wall to half its diameter in wood.
It is one of the best measurements of the ability of a wood species to withstand denting and wear.
By the same token, it is also a good indicator of how hard or easy a species is to saw or nail.
Northern Red Oak, for example, has a Janka hardness rating of 1290.
Brazilian Cherry, with a rating of 2350, is nearly twice as hard.
If you're accustomed to working with Red Oak and decide to tackle a job with Brazilian Cherry, you can expect it to be much harder to cut and nail.
Apply Filler (Wood Flour with floor sawdust mix) or you can use cherry or black walnut wood fill to fill cracks.
If filling large cracks and knots you can use System Three epoxy for a more natural appearance.
