In 1979 James McDowell started McDowell Sales.
This business was primarily wholesale sales over the telephone and then delivered to the customer's door.
James worked out of a box truck and garage at his home.
In 1981 his father in law had moved his business (Wood Sales Co.) to a new warehouse and a building became available.
James and Oneal then started M. & W. Sales, Inc. in Golden, Ms, as a walk in wholesale business.
James however still stayed on the road delivering wholesale merchandise that was sold over the telephone.
