In the early years, Mapes Furniture was Sunfield's largest employer with a significant Casket Building Operation supplying coffin demands throughout the Mid-west.
Eventually Mapes moved into the manufacture of all facets of Home Furniture items including chairs, cradles, tables, benches, bedding and more.
By the time that the early 1900's came around Mapes was a true 'Cradle to Grave' Resource for Michigan Residents.
