Warren May has been making dulcimers since 1972. He recently closed his retail shop in Berea, KY and is making his instruments at his home workshop which is not open to the public. Native Kentuckian Warren A. May has spent his lifetime working with wood. He has more than forty years of experience in professional furniture and dulcimer making. His furniture and mountain dulcimers have been featured in Popular Woodworking, Fine Woodworking, Woodwork magazine, Kentucky Living Magazine and Blue Ridge Magazine.
He is an Exhibiting Member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists & Craftsmen and has received Lifetime Juried Status from the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program. After forty seven years of dulcimer making, I am offering my latest work on an even more current and active schedule. Since 2012, I've gone beyond my "Special" models and added the "Ultimate" dulcimer.
It features some of the best tone woods available - aged walnut and cherry or Brazilian cherry tops provide the richest, most confident tone possible.
