Always striving for excellence through quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service. We're proud to be one of the few shops in the area providing full service options for all of your furniture needs. Two generations of women owners serving the Inland Northwest since 1978. We can perform a full spectrum of wood repairs from antique restoration to dog chews.

We recreate broken rungs, work with insurance companies for moving, fire and flood damage restoration, or replace caning and rushing. Our refinishing process starts with a flow-over stripping process that's gentler on the joints than a dip tank. We can custom color match stains and tinted lacquer to almost any request. We finish the piece with durable lacquer that can be anything from flat to high gloss.

We're unique because we offer the full spectrum of refinishing and repair in addition to upholstery. We can make sure your piece is structurally sound and the exposed wood beautifully restored before you invest in new upholstery.
Services
The Furniture Doctors, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business conveniently located in Rathdrum, Idaho.
We specialize in the repair, refinishing, restoration, and reupholstering of your valuable furniture and wood pieces.
We utilize the best of old and new techniques, products and equipment to enhance the natural beauty and strength of your pieces through refinishing, repair, touch-up, and reupholstering.
Over 40 years of success is firmly based upon our dedication to our customers and a personal desire to serve.
Yes, if possible and it doesn't compromise the structural integrity, we like to repair the original piece, but we can also make new pieces install them and color them to match.
Yes, if only the top shows signs of wear or damage we can refinish just the top of a piece and custom match the color and sheen to the original look to ensure that it looks exactly like the base.
Only if they can be removed and brought to our shop to allow us to strip, sand, stain, and finish.
Then they can be reinstalled in your home or office.
We have a very detailed, systematic way of re-gluing loose joints.
We do not just squirt some glue in the joint, or tighten the joint with a nail or screw.
Old glue needs to be removed before the new glue can penetrate and bond to the wood.
First we separate the loose joints, label them, remove all the old glue off both sides of the joint, then apply new glue, align, and clamp the piece in place.
We can fabricate broken or missing pieces, secure old veneer or apply new veneer, or remold broken or damaged carving.
All hardware, glass, cushions and other non-wood parts of the item are removed and placed in a customer parts bin, labeled with the customer's name.
Pieces are partially disassembled such as: removing doors, table leaves and drop-leaves, table runners, etc.
Finish and stain or paint is stripped chemically with our Flow Over system (as much as the wood will allow).
The Flow Over system is akin to a shower for your furniture.
This usually does not damage the wood, veneer, or the glued joints.
We do not "dip" or aggressively sand, as it tends to cause damage.
Upholstery can be the start of a whole new project or the finishing touch.
It can give furniture an updated look or an heirloom new life.
We evaluate the whole piece from filling and cushions, to structural elements such as springs.
These processes make the cost of upholstery close to the price of new furniture.
Let our experts help you decide to restore your family favorites so they can be enjoyed fully once again.
Can you tell if your piece has a hardwood frame, hand tied springs, or glued wood joints?
