Steve Grable is the founder, owner, designer, and biggest fan of Montana Custom Log Furniture.
He grew up near Mount Hood in Oregon as a pastor's son.
He developed his love of the outdoors, natural resources, and creating imaginative wood works from his father.
Being a small town boy, and hating the fast pace and hectic, stressful lifestyle of living and working in the city, he is now realizing his dream--owning his own business, raising his kids in prime recreational territory, and enjoying all that "God's country" (Montana) has to offer.

We are a CUSTOM builder, and I guarantee you that we can build ANYTHING your heart desires.
We have never answered "NO", and we have never met a challenge or new item that we couldn't conquer.
There are still quite a few items in my sketch pad, and churning around in my head, that we have not yet had the opportunity to build.
I cannot wait to build these items, I am so excited to build them, if someone would only give us the opportunity.

We predominantly use pine trees and logs found in Northwest Montana.
Pine is excellent for log furniture since it grows fairly straight with minimal taper from top to bottom, it is available in many subspecies in our region which are all favorable for log furniture, such as Lodgepole, ponderosa, white, pinyon, and jack pine.
Occasionally, we may use some juniper, popular, aspen, cedar, spruce, and larch, but only if it is requested specifically.
Shipping is the biggest challenge that we face in this business.

The beds are very simple to assemble.
They are stacked on a pallet, headboards and endboards on the bottom with the corresponding side rails and security rails on top of the stack.
There is a small box (or bag) inside the stack which contains all of the hardware (bolts and lock washers) that you will need to assemble your bed!
First, stand up the end boards so that the side with the metal inserts and RED numbers is facing in toward each other.
The security rails are marked with numbers on the end of each log as well as inside the corresponding holes.
