Shaker View Furniture is a small family business on a farm in the Western Foothills of Maine. Our shop is in the barn and ells of our traditional New England farmhouse built in 1899--close to the peak of Shaker activity in New England. We are just a few miles from the last remaining working Shaker community: Sabbathday Lake. From my first visits to Shaker villages, in New England, I have been drawn to their simple elegant furniture.
With a family, we wanted a business we could pursue here on the farm so we could be home while the children were young. We stumbled upon an ad in Maine's famous trading magazine, Uncle Henry's: "Shaker Chair Business for Sale." It felt like a match and Shaker View Furniture was born. We have stayed small by choice. This allows us to service each customer personally and to continue our commitment to the family and the farm.
Our newest additions are three alpacas.
