Since 1982, The Century Guild has specialized in designing and building one-of-a-kind furniture for ecclesiastical, corporate and residential clients. This extensive experience produces traditional and contemporary pieces distinguished by special materials, well-proportioned designs, and time-tested construction techniques. It may be 2018 on the calendar, but we're still looking back and thinking about the 35 years we've been in business.
While we prefer to see them as our Vice Presidents for Employee Jollification, cats have long been traditional in woodworking studios because of another talent-rodent. Let's face it, clamps are not the most glamorous of woodworking tools and knowing how to clamp is not usually thought of as an important. As custom woodworkers, we often find ourselves having to make templates, cutters, jigs, or models that we use only once.
Some special projects, however, require.

Services
The Century Guild is a studio devoted to designing and building one-of-a-kind ecclesiastical, corporate and residential furniture.
Its founder, Nick Strange, has been making wooden furniture since 1976.
Greatly influenced by the British and American Arts-and-Crafts movements, he named his company for another "Century Guild"-one founded in 1882 by British architect A. H. Mackmurdo.
Since establishing his own Century Guild in 1982, Strange has modeled its standards on those described by Mackmurdo: "to encourage and establish a high standard of form and method."

What exactly does The Century Guild do?
The Century Guild designs and makes extremely high quality one-of-a-kind [or very limited edition] wooden furniture in any style.
Every piece is commissioned and thus made to the client's individual specifications.
How does one go about commissioning a piece?
The Century Guild works with architects, with designers and with clients directly.
While the process varies with the project, the more common procedure is to 1. identify the type of piece, its style, function, size and material; 2. establish a rough-cost estimate based on the above; 3. receive a deposit to develop the design so that 4. a final, set price can be determined; 5. approve developed design and cost; and 6. receive construction deposit and begin construction.
