Our wood is reclaimed from barns around Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin typically built in the late 1800's to early 1900's. All furniture is built locally by an experienced and meticulous craftsman who builds each piece like it was our own. We use the best wood joining techniques, and finishing processes. Our furniture is built to last, and pass down from generation to generation.
We have a large variety of reclaimed wood including siding, 2", 3", hardwoods, softwoods, beams, flooring, fireplace mantels and tin for all your DIY projects.

Most reclaimed wood is old growth wood and was harvested at a time when the trees grew slowly.
Slow growth means a tight, dense grain.
Simply put, reclaimed woods offer superior quality and durability that you can't find in today's market.
One of the main reasons we love reclaimed wood is its character.
The nail holes, bolt holes, worming, staining, checking, knots; all of these natural and man-made imperfections add to the character of reclaimed wood.
With everything that reclaimed wood has to offer (age, quality, originality, stability, etc.), perhaps the greatest selling point is its incomparable beauty.

The Wood Shed uses reclaimed barn beams to craft one-of-a-kind rustic fireplace mantels.
We offer a large variety of hand hewn and rough sawn mantels in many species, shapes and sizes.
Some of the species we carry are Pine, Oak, White Oak, Douglas Fir, and Red Elm.
We are always getting new wood in, please contact us if you are looking for a specific species.
Timbers that were created by hand using only an axe.
Some mantels date back hundreds of years.
Hand Hewn mantels retain the history, rustic character, and charm that cannot be replicated.
