Darren started building useful things out of wood from childhood. By 16, he was already employed at a high-end furniture company in Stephens County, GA sanding furniture after school. Shortly after high school graduation, he was promoted to plant Production Supervisor. He spent the next 8 years at another regional firm apprenticing as a furniture finisher, blending his furniture construction background with new skills in color layering.
In the following years he honed his skills at building prototypes and market samples from photos and sketches. For the past decade, Darren has served as head of Finishing Operations with a high-quality manufacturer that specializes in primitives and creative variations of traditional American designs. Today, with a total of 25+ years of skill-building in design, engineering, production and finishing, Darren's specialty is creating one-of-a-kind pieces to order, from concept to completion.

Each piece of furniture that we sell is built custom made-to-order in our shop.
We provide the whole process, from choosing the wood for each individual piece to applying the hand-rubbed finishes.
We can do antique reproductions, as well as a full range of Traditional and Contemporary designs--and you don't have to be a furniture designer to work with us.
We understand that design is a bit of an evolution, whether it's a modification of an existing style or a totally new, custom design.
Darren personally makes sure that each original piece he is creating is being built with the quality and care it deserves, to ensure that the finished piece is custom furniture that will last a lifetime.

Choose from our selection of stock colors, or you may prefer a paint or stain from your local paint supplier.
Simply provide us with the manufacturer's color name and number, then specify the level of aging and texture you would like, including any specific instructions we may need to finish your piece appropriately.
If you wish, Dickerson Design will produce a Color Sample Board for you at $30.00 plus shipping for each color, which will be credited towards your furniture order.

Our selection of in-stock, popular hardware includes tradtional wood knobs in various sizes, as well as oiled bronze cup pulls and knobs or antiqued cage styles in brass and rustic designs in burnished copper.
