How did an American geologist end up pioneering the high-end copper furniture industry in Mexico?
It started with a 1982 road trip.
Raised in Texas, Fred Snyder worked closely with Mexican laborers on farms and ranches and found he had a knack for Spanish.
After taking some Spanish courses in high school and college, he spent the summer of 1982 traveling in Mexico.

We fire rich colors directly into the copper to allow the healing of stains and scratches.
Our hammering is optimized, which is critical in terms of how the copper wears over time with use.
We use old-world craftsmanship to hammer and form copper using methods developed centuries before the Spanish conquerors arrived in Mexico.
The fire is stoked and old copper materials are recycled by melting into a disk or ingot and allowed to cool.
Then the ingots are alternatively heated red-hot and hammered in rapid harmony by our skilled coppersmiths using nothing more than fire, hammers, and an anvil.

At Copper Instincts, we seal all of our copper with clear paste wax (copper should never be sealed with lacquer).
To preserve the finish and to keep the copper sealed and protected against spills and oxidation, a thin coat of clear paste wax should be applied to the copper every few weeks, or as needed (when water no longer beads upon the surface).
We like clear Briwax best, but Johnson's, Minwax, or any other clear paste wax is fine.
First, apply a very thin coat of any commercially available furniture or wood floor paste wax; let dry for five to ten minutes.
