I originally opened Circa Furniture as a retail furniture store featuring both new and antique furnishings. The retail store became a great showroom for the refinishing work that we were doing in our woodshop.
I offered our furniture refinishing services at the store as a side, but this soon became the core of our business; as well as our custom-built furniture. Eight years later, our furniture restoration and design shop is flourishing in East Durham. I have been woodworking since before the age of 10. As a young kid in the late '70's, I would build forts and treehouses using scraps taken from neighborhood construction sites.
I can still remember the elation that I felt when my grandfather gave me my first power tool at the young age of 12. From that point, my woodworking has progressed from simple "hammer and nail" construction to computer-designed furniture and cabinetry.
